Can your avrage joe affored a roller beetle? no.. it takes someone who has buckets of ectos..... Also same with mini ghostly hero... avrage joe can't get it because it drops in the hall of heros only.. and the drop rate is pretty low.. if you want to get rare items, its gotta be something a.net GIVES to people.. not something that drops.

That is true, rare mini-pets that never drops is worth alot of money!!

I think we should be able roll a pve toon and equip them with anything in the game much like you would in pvp creation. Infact lets do away with ig drops, armours, and money all together. Log on create character give him fow armour and your weapon of choice and its mission time(remember thats all there is)....
Pre-SF pve was 100% tits. Imagine an era when 99.99% of drops didnt go to the merch. Every Gold drop if u were willing to part with it could be easily sold. Even Purples w/ decent stats had value. MODS! are u kidding me! 100k+ for +30hp, 10/10 ap? hot! Theres a few more ecto towards your gear of choice/lust. Ready for fow/uw? bam shard, bam ecto, woops req 11 13%ench fellblade?? 60k! Things had value and players made money with out having to farm some stupid boss repeatedly(or whatever).Of course items will depreciate in value over time but this largley is a VERY slow process. Through out the games history items dont suddenly hit the basement until anet does something awful like greens, inscriptions, 3x loot etc.. 100k max trade limit and ecto as the alternative provided a massive bulwark vs inflation via bots(not going to explain). Inflation is only relavent to the ig vendors anyway (keys, armour, dye etc). As far as weapons are concerned it doesnt matter if everyplayer in the game had 999k dropped into storage. There's only so many of a given item ig at one time and the amount of relative purchasing power required to obtain it at that moment is constant regardless of the literal amount paid. I bring this up because "newbs and bots" has been anets given reason for every step in our race to communism starting w/ the sf update. I gave up on pve some time ago but i thinks its a shame the newer players experience resembles Barbie Picks Out Her Outfit 2 as it was pve was once very rewarding and.....whats that word..fun.
*A note on GW "supply and demand" unlike the real world supply is often the key and somecases the only driving force behind an items demand....increased supply across the board just means more ppl quitting pve and moving to pvp....hmm i wonder..

Yes, because everyone who bought them knew that they would drop loads thanks to hard mode....
I fail to see how anyone is a "sucka" due to something which was unexpected.
Its like calling anyone who owned 10/10 staffs "suckaz" due to a totally unexpected change.
I suppose using your reasoning that chances are you are a "sucka" as most people have owned either a x% Recharge staff, old Sundering mod, old while hexed shield, old while in stance shield, old +x al shield etc. Unless of course you are new to Guild Wars.

Correct. When i said suckaz, i meant all that people that payed so much money for weapon thinking they are elite... Yeah, some of them bought it just for looks, but let's face it, 90% of owners of Colossal that boughted while it was 100k + 100 ecto will now be angry because every player can afford something that was making them elite till release of hard mode and mass farmage of CS.
Now, if you'll excuse me, i need to go kill some mobs with my perfect cheap Colossal

Lol you payed 50K for a req 12?
Even req 9's can be obtained cheaper. Soon Colossals will be worth 300 gold at merch, when you're lucky, but nothing more.
Who's the 'sucka' now? ;P
And btw, most people don't buy weapons to be 'elite'. They want these weapons for the challenge. You also call your parents suckers when they buy a new car that is worth less the next year?
I didn't buy a Colossal yet, but I am very mad because A-Net has - again - removed one of my goals in the game (they screwed up the 15^50 dwarven weapons/crystalliens as well with inscriptions).
Let's face it, Guild Wars needs such weapons and items in order to keep people interested. But there is no reason to call anyone a sucker just because he was willing to buy a weapon with great rarity

I don't think Colossals will drop down to Dead Sword prices - Dead Swords are an order of magnitude faster to farm - but they're going to continue to drop in price, to be sure. I'd be surprised if req 9 ones got down to 50k, but that's pretty damn affordable especially considering what they used to run you.
Peace,
-CxE

Gratz.
My mate bought a req9 unmodded for 50k yesterday. Why do ppl mod high req-s to perfect? Because someone will buy them at a high price.

Not me... I said i payed 50K for req 12 with perfect mods (20/20 and +30) In case you dont know, let me remind you - only the mods are worth 25K each, so i got a sword for free.

No, you are wrong. Guild Wars doesnt need rare skin weapons to keep people intrested. It is a great game with lots of quality, and if your only intrest in game is to chase the expenssive/rare items, then go play WoW in which the only point is to have better equipement. GW isnt like that. And whoever buys an item with 100K+100 ecto price, and doesnt like its skin, it means he bought it only so he can boss around and think he is somehow better then others. Same as that stupid rank in PvP, only for noobs who think their high end weapons and rank can guarantee their success

considering that dwarvens are a pvp reward, i guess it's kinda hard to take advantage of HM to develop some kind of farming for them

dude chill out and let us have fun in the game we too paid for, in the way we decide to be best. I'm very sorry that you have trouble getting ingame gold, or lack the common sense need to farm the rarer skins (ofc, the farmable ones i mean), feel discriminated for low rank or w/e, but I dont really think we can help you...
and yes, i do believe games like this need VARIETY just as you said it yourself. and yes, that includes a variety of skins/items, and variety of those would also mean different grades of rarity of obtainable items (does that even make sense ^_^ soz, kinda late).
and stop pointing out how good a deal you had please.. i bet some of the people that posted in this thread have made quite a bit better ones.

Probably your right, but i'm seeing req.9 dead swords go for 30k right now. It'll take a while, but it might happen one day.

From PvE perspective, I strongly disagree with this. With a view like this, it seems like you haven't really experienced this game fully, or mmo's for that matter.

Who said i have trouble getting gold? And i dont even need to farm rare skins, if i do want one i will simply purchase it. But thing is, i dont like rare skins because most of them are just rare, but not good looking... Take Crystalline sword for example... it is rare, it is expenssive, and it is so damn UGLY! I wouldnt use it even if i get a perfect one for free. Same as Serpent axe, it is rare but Kanaxai, Chaos, and so many other ones simply look better... So why should i give so much money for it? Neither it looks better or has better stats... Oh yeah, i forgot - STATUS... The reason why ppl buy rare and expnessive items... So they can feel better when they enter mission/explorable and then team-mates start asking what weapon is that. How about you prove yourself with good play, and not with ecto stacks and million worth items?

Oh yeah? And what makes you think so? Just because i dont have a need to posess high value items like 90% others, doesn't mean i don't enjoy the game and understand it. Sure, i have some stuff that isn't cheap, like two sets of 15K armor, some nice weapons and so on, but EVERYTHING i bought was only because i loved the looks. What i don't understand is why people so desperately need expenssive items and then whine when prices drop on something they payed so much for...

Rare skins give people something to work for. Without them, *MOST* of the pve community would feel they have nothing to work for besides titles...and everyone knows how fun titles are.
I personally love the rare skins, for thier looks and because of thier accessibility. I own about 10+ weapons all worth atleast 100k+15 (yes I know this is very low compared to some people) and I am very happy with every single one of them. I wouldn't trade my rq. 9 Sephis Axe for anything, or the rq. 9 Dual Gothic I have. I worked hard to save up for the weapons, I do feel a sense of accomplishment when buying new weapons.
